i bought that turbo kit..... its gonna be spring break before it gets installed and ima buy a 70 or a 76mm turbo. so im excited

and when i equip my tbird with a kenne bell and DOHC 5.4, youre gonna cry when a granny car blows by you...but for now, im broke. Your car'll probly be long gone by the time that happens

Congrats Tyler. Just using my limited turbo knowledge, you will want a 76mm turbo... Mustang guys with stock engines (4.6 at least) run 70mm's and they are just about right.

Meh I'm over that swap. It's RPM limited and anything short of SERIOUSLY ported heads, or TrickFlow heads won't allow the 5.4 to breath enough to make the power it could make.
Rather just rebuild my 4.6 with a Cobra crank, forged rods/pistons, headwork and a set of Comp 270 series (270 or larger) with the Edelbrock intake. That would be a nice 7k screamer just like a 4v and not be limited by the long stroke of a 5.4 and lack on header options.
Now, if we are talking a 5.4 out of say, a Navigator... I'm game for that...:rock:

Doubt a 76mm would lag too bad seeing as what you are putting out now. It will give you more room to grow IF you want to put out even more power without having to worry about over-spinning a 70mm and limiting yourself.
Do some more research, like I said I am not an expert but I do know that I personally would go 76mm and not look back. You're just a few notches above a stock LS1 and have the power to spin it up pretty quick.

alvin@PCM4Less will be tuning my car..... its 200 for dyno time and tune. he also did the tune that i have now.... the car has a lot of timing taken out rightnow for the nitrous so it should be safe enough to drive from rock hill (where its getting put on at) and mooresville.

congrats man. not till spring break though ? thats gonna kill you havin to wai that long with the kit in ur garage. i know it killed me when i had my cams laying around in the box in my room 4 ever until i finally got them put in. a turbo and nitrous ?

I hope you plan on doing more to your engine than just that. For starters you are running pretty high compression You say your timing is low now wait till you get the turbo on there you will not be able to run hardly any timing. You need to either get dished pistons or run a head with a bigger combustion chamber to lower the compression so you can run more boost and timing and make more powa. Next I hope you don't plan on running the same cam- if its the one you said was in there that thing will not like boost. I mean if it is the one you told me about it has a 110 LSA. What that means is it has a lot of overlap and will bleed boost off. Also the kit you purchased is not known for producing high HP numbers. The most HP I have seen from that kit is around 650rwhp and that was with a forged 6.0. Here is a link to a guy a TECH that has made the most HP with the kit his name is RYAN K

Also notice that he has the T76 and only 653rwhp but an ass of torque.
I am happy that you finally got your turbo kit but I hope that you factored in the cost of changing a lot of things for it to be optimized. Oh and hurry up and get it on I want to see it.

i just want consistance...which a turbo does better than nitrous. i know a guy that went 9.82 w a trex cam and supercharger. stock block. yea ima go 317's..... my lsa is 109

I agree with what is being said here.
You got about the worst cam possible to use with a turbo. LSA (lobe separation angle) is basically how long the intake valve and exhaust valve stay open at the same time. Everyone wants a low LSA with high duration for that cool cam idle sound which is great if you don't have forced induction. 109LSA is pretty low. 112LSA seems to be a common choppy idle number for aftermarket cams.
Your boost from the turbo will pretty much go in the intake valve and right out the exhaust valve before it closes. Which might be good in your case because it's going to be the only thing in your case that's going to postpone the engine from instantly blowing up. High compression with forced induction is another thing that will instantly blow the engine up. Also stock bottom end? Consider a complete engine rebuild before you try to get your horsepower goals. Your little, baby lawnmower turbo won't produce those numbers either. When you upgrade your turbo, you will need to upgrade all your piping too.
If you just just want to tell people you have a turbo, nitrous, LS1 camaro and have it sound cool. You'll succeed, but I'm not going to feel one bit sorry for you when you need a whole new engine because you want to run that combo.
