Put that same driver in the ZR1 and not the engineer that was driving it before and I bet the ZR1 will be tops again. I am by no means a ZR1 nutswinger but compare apple to apple as far as a driver. I think the only way to compare THE RING lap times is to let the same driver test all the cars.

Look they used a PROFESSIONAL driver against a GM Engineer.woohoo

I don't know, 4 seconds is an eternity.

Put him in there and run the ZR1 again. Look how much he scraped off after a few laps. He picked up over 10 sec. Now that is an eternity. One slip in a corner can cost you the 4 sec.

OK I looked again and it was 13 sec he shaved off in 4 laps. 13sec is the new eternity.

I'll admit something is fishy, I don't know how heavy the Viper is but it can't be any lighter than the ZR1, and the ZR1 is putting out more power.

is the zr1 even made to take turns like that anyway. i know the vioers have great suspension

The Viper is a good bit heavier. I don't know an exact number though. It only has 50 less hp. Aerodynamics, downforce, and finely-tuned suspension will take you a long way.

Yea I saw that someone said it had mad downforce and great suspension in the comment boxes.

The Viper is heavier than the ZR1 and it's lethaly tuned for the twisties. I haven't seen the vid of the Viper's run but I have of the ZR1. ZR1 left alot on the table in it's run. The guy powerslid a few turns, short shifted-average shift was about 64-6500 rpms. Now granted, I don't think that'll make up for 4secs worth of difference but maybe a pro driver could make it up. I just think Chevy was aiming at beating GT-Rs time hands down and really wouldn't trying to get the absolute fastest time out the car possible. However, I don't know how many tries ZR1 had, nor do we know what the weather was like on either run. In the end, Good Job Dodge! Now, let's take 'em down the 1320 and see whom is that fastest!!!

I'd love to see a race between all of these super production cars for a good 3 laps around the ring all with pro drivers.

It's something Top Gear would have to do or at least promote.

F Top Gear! Clarkson is biased b*st*rd. I can't remember if it was the first C6 or first C6 Z06 he tested but he bashed it heavily although it outran 0-60, road course, and 1/4 times of other cars he "favored" as "better".

haha I love Top Gear. He loved the Z06 he just said it wasn't a daily driver because it was too stiff on the road and too loud.

Then it must have been the first C6 he tested. He gave it h*ll over transverse leafsprings

I don't like transverse leaf springs either

Here's the vid of the run.....

http://www.motortrend.com/av/features/112_0811_2009_dodge_viper_acr_nurburgring_record_v ideo/index.html

After watching it, I would NOT drive the ACR on public roads. Not like I'd ever get a chance to but the bottom of the car got beat to !@#$% all over the track. Obviously Dodge had one thing in mind when making this car.
