most of our shops customers are from out of state. They problem is with people not wanting to pay for quality work. We are the only shop around here that probably has an english wheel and planishing hammer and can build a complete car body out of sheet metal using no body filler, just metal finishing. Not many people want to pay for correct restoration work. Oh and fastlane racecars is a shop around here that builds and does all kinds of cages and complete chassis work from circle track to pro mods to street cars. And is the best welder around here.

gotta make sure everyone involved is actually INVOLVED. if people at the shop want business and make sure they do everything correctly MAYBE the word would get put out. hard part is is that most only want $$$$$$

Just bring your LSX's down to Greenville and let Charles and Jeff tune them.
Best tuners I've seen.

this is only an idea i'm tossing around at the moment. One thing I've noticed about shops like what I'm thinking of, is they only really offer parts for certain cars, i.e. mid level performance, exotic, domestic, euro.....no one has really had a shop that specializes in all cars, carries parts for YOUR car, has an experienced and knowledgeable team that can work on ALL cars, not just a hand full.

its becuase its a huge overhead.

I did that in japan. i worked at a wheel shop doing all their suspension and wheel fitment for about 6 months or so before i got the job in saudi.
It worked only cause they could get parts the next day, so youd set up the appointment, and by time the car came in, they had parts.

But the problem here is the market. You have a predominant local crowd, with a mean average income of 40ish k? With houses in hte 120s and up in the actual MB area, 40k isnt alot to play with. You may get some of that top 10% that live in the grande dunes or whatever the next hot spot is, but the odds of that are slim, as most just buy a car and leave it.

What will give you a niche, is specializing in a few areas. I.E VIP, drift setup, Classics, whatever. Dont just isolate a solid niche though, go for a few. I KNOW there isnt a VIP shop from here to florida, or above us at all either. And its the biggest up and comming trend.

But again, its expensive, with wheel and suspension setups reaching almost 6k for hte combo. i mean....there are tons of ways to do it, but figuring out what is going to work will take time. Its going to be a WHILE before im back in town, but if you are SERIOUS about this, and would like someone to hop in with you with the knowledge, let me know. I have a few years over here in saudi, so its not like im loking for anything immediate. But either way, if you are serious, ill help you if you need it. Id like to be able to go somewhere to buy parts for once if nothing else

But hten also branch out into other aspects of automotive
offer photography for events, video shoots, etc etc etc. I bring in ALOT of money from this stuff, and its deff feasible in the area. make a few hundred an event if you have a large event, and get a group together for video at 100.00 an hour, then you got even more. Only downside is the large investment on equipment, unless you have someone that has it all lol
